In 209 schools in Dubai, which together educate over 360,000 children, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) carried out inspections this year.
Ten of them underwent their first inspections, which was a big step toward guaranteeing thorough quality checks at all of the emirate's educational institutions.
Detailed Inspection Ratings and Results
The schools were divided into multiple performance tiers based on the findings of the KHDA inspection. The highest rating of 'Outstanding' was attained by a total of twenty-three schools, exhibiting remarkable standards in a range of educational domains. The 'Very Good' rating for 48 schools denotes excellent performance and high-caliber instruction. Eighty-five schools were rated as "good," demonstrating strong academic standards, while 51 schools were rated as "acceptable," meaning they satisfied the KHDA's minimum standards. Remarkably, just two schools were classified as "weak," and none as "very weak," indicating a high level all around.
Improvements in school ratings were observed for 26 institutions, which showed significant advancements in their educational quality and performance. Conversely, three schools experienced a decline in their ratings. The KHDA found that 81% of Dubai's kids are currently enrolled in private schools with a grade of "good" or above, which is a significant trend. This is an improvement over 77% from the last inspection cycle, meaning that the 26 schools that saw their scores climb would be able to provide better instruction to roughly 49,500 children. This change highlights how well KHDA's inspection and improvement procedures have been working to raise the standard of instruction for a sizable segment of the student body.
Ninety percent of Dubai's schools saw improvements in one or more quality metrics. The components of this extensive enhancement are as follows: Better academic and developmental outcomes for students were indicated by the 67% of these enhancements that were tied to student outcomes. The arrangements provided for students accounted for 26% of the improvements, which were linked to improved facilities, resources, and support networks. Leadership accounted for 7% of the improvements, indicating improved administration and strategic direction in schools.
Specific areas, such as Arabic and Islamic education, showed marked progress. For Arabic as a first language, 64% of schools were rated 'Good or higher', a notable increase from 52% in the previous year. This improvement reflects targeted efforts to enhance the teaching and learning of Arabic. Similarly, 77% of schools were rated 'Good or higher' for the progress of students in Islamic education, up from 68% during the 2022–23 academic year. These improvements demonstrate a focused effort to strengthen these essential areas of the curriculum.
Enhancements in Inclusive Education
The KHDA results demonstrated noteworthy advancements in inclusive education as well. The efforts to lower obstacles to learning and guarantee equal access to education have paid off, as 76% of schools now offer 'good or higher' rated programs for motivated students. This shows a strong dedication to providing inclusive education and assistance to kids with special needs, guaranteeing that they obtain a top-notch education and the necessary tools.
The findings of the KHDA assessment this year show that private schools in Dubai have generally raised their educational levels. There is a favorable trend in the city's educational system, as the majority of pupils are currently enrolled in schools that have received a rating of 'Good' or better. Notable developments in inclusive education and important fields like Arabic and Islamic education highlight the overall efforts being made to raise academic standards.
