The infrastructure development at Dubai Harbour, spearheaded by the RTA in coordination with Shamal Holding, reflects Dubai's commitment to enhancing urban development and accommodating population growth. This project will significantly improve access to Dubai Harbour, support its growth as a premier destination, and provide residents and visitors with a superior quality of life.
Development of Dubai Harbour Infrastructure
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for enhancing the infrastructure of Dubai Harbour.
In collaboration with Shamal Holding, a leading investment company managing a diverse portfolio, the project aims to implement direct entrances and exits to Dubai Harbour. This initiative, valued at 431 million dirhams, includes the construction of a 1,500-meter bridge with two lanes in each direction, linking Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour.
Project Specifications and Traffic Capacity
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTA, highlighted that the project is designed to facilitate access for residents and visitors to Dubai Harbour. The 1,500-meter bridge, extending from the fifth interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road (near the American University in Dubai), will pass through intersections at Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street and over King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, reaching Dubai Harbour. The bridge will have a total capacity of approximately 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. Additionally, the project includes surface improvements at four key intersections along the bridge route, enhancing traffic flow and significantly reducing travel time from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes.
Dubai Harbour’s Vision and Development
Abdullah bin Habtoor, CEO of Shamal Holding, expressed the company’s commitment to developing Dubai Harbour into an exceptional waterfront and integrated coastal residential complex. The company's first residential project in Dubai Harbour, "Dubai Harbour Residences," along with other waterfront development projects, aim to meet the growing demand and ensure the destination's growth and prosperity. The strategic project of constructing a vital bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour is a key investment in building an integrated community that offers luxury and a high quality of life for residents and visitors. Upon completion, the bridge will enhance traffic flow and reduce travel time, providing a comfortable and seamless experience.
