The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that registration for the Dubai Program for Health Specialties is now open.
Starting from yesterday, healthcare professionals can register until June 14 via the Mawaheb platform (https://mawaheb.dha.gov.ae). This initiative is part of DHA's ongoing strategy to create an environment that attracts and develops healthcare professionals while promoting nationalization in the health sector. The program aims to transform both government and private health facilities into educational health systems.
In a recent statement, the DHA emphasized its commitment to fostering a stimulating environment for healthcare professionals. This initiative is seen as a key component in enhancing the quality of healthcare in Dubai and supporting the nationalization efforts within the health sector. By integrating educational health systems into existing facilities, DHA hopes to cultivate a new generation of skilled healthcare providers.
Diverse specialty programs
Dr. Wadi’a Mohammed, Director of the Medical Education and Research Department at the DHA, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the Dubai Health Specialties Program. The program includes 30 specialty courses across 27 hospitals and medical centers.
These encompass the General Medicine Excellence Program, the Dentistry Excellence Program, and various residency programs in specialties such as internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, pediatrics, eye surgery, orthopedics, and traumatology. Additionally, the program offers fellowship opportunities in areas like cosmetic medicine and fertility. All these programs have been accredited by the Arab Council for Health Specialties.
Thinking back to 2023, when the Dubai Program for Health Specialties was originally presented to the private sector, about 200 trainees registered, according to Dr. Mohammed. By giving healthcare professionals access to advanced training and development opportunities, this early achievement highlights the program's potential to have a substantial impact on Dubai's healthcare scene.
Achieving Prestigious Accreditations
The DHA has secured several prestigious accreditations for the Dubai Program for Health Specialties. These include institutional accreditation from the National Institute for Health Specialties and the Arab Board for Health Specialties. Notably, the DHA is the first to receive institutional accreditation from the Arab Board at the Arab world level.
Furthermore, the American Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I) has accredited the program. The program's excellent training standards and caliber are validated by these accreditations.
The announcement by the Dubai Health Authority on the registration opening for the Dubai Program for Health Specialties is a noteworthy advancement in the region's healthcare education and professional growth. The project, which offers a diverse range of recognized specialized programs, has the potential to draw and nurture elite healthcare professionals, hence enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided in Dubai as a whole. To take advantage of this exceptional opportunity, interested candidates are asked to register through the Mawaheb portal by June 14 at the latest.
