The Emirates School Education Foundation has unveiled an opportunity for citizen students and their counterparts in government schools to register for the upcoming academic year, spanning from kindergarten to grade 12.
This initiative marks the third period of registration, targeting various categories of students, including those new to government schools, individuals transferring from private institutions within the country, and those returning from studies abroad. The registration window is open from today until the seventh of June, offering a chance for families to secure placements within the UAE's education system.
Parents are advised to make sure their digital identity information is current prior to electronically submitting their applications through the Foundation's website or mobile application in order to expedite the registration process. This digital infrastructure makes it possible to handle registration requests effectively, guaranteeing a seamless experience for all stakeholders.
Understanding Registration Criteria
To ensure that public school registration meets both age and citizenship requirements, the Foundation has established particular guidelines. Enrollment in kindergarten is contingent upon meeting age requirements; children must be four by August 31 of the following year to be eligible for enrollment in the first year, and five by the same date in the second year. Those who enroll in first grade must not be older than eight years old on August 31 of the following year.
Emphasizing inclusivity, the Foundation reserves kindergarten registration for citizens and children of female citizens exclusively. However, first-grade admission extends to citizens, children of female citizens, and those meeting specified conditions for basic education stage one. Additionally, special provisions are made for students with disabilities, ensuring accessibility to education facilities closest to their residences.
Academic performance is the main requirement for admission to general education institutions for pupils in grades 2 through 12. It is imperative to attain a high grade point average in all core disciplines, including Arabic, English, and mathematics. To be admitted, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 90% or more in the description system (A-B).
To validate academic credentials, students transferring from private institutions must provide authenticated and equated academic certificates, adhering to approved procedures. Similarly, foreign educational certificates undergo equating processes and require authentication by relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE Embassy in the country of issuance.
Finalizing the registration process
Reserving a seat through the initial registration process signifies preliminary approval. Final acceptance is contingent upon meeting all admission conditions by the year's end, ensuring compliance with academic standards and documentation requirements. Once confirmed, guardians receive notification of the transfer process, with options to select school transportation services during registration, subject to proof of housing availability.
The registration process for the academic year 2024-2025 reflects the UAE's commitment to providing accessible and quality education for its citizens and residents. By adhering to registration criteria and procedures, families can secure placements for their children within the UAE's diverse education landscape, fostering academic growth and societal development.
