Saudi Arabia's capital city of Riyadh saw a shift to remote learning on Wednesday due to the country's unpredictable weather.
The National Center of Meteorology for the nation stated on Monday that severe weather with moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to affect numerous regions of Saudi Arabia until Friday.
In addition, the General Directorate of Civil Defense released safety guidelines and severe weather alerts, advising the public to take cover and stay inside during inclement weather.
Authorities issued weather warnings this week, prompting schools in Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina in addition to Riyadh, to convert to online sessions via the Madrasati remote-learning network.
Several Gulf nations, including the UAE, Oman, and Bahrain, saw severe storms with previously unheard-of volumes of rainfall in the final few weeks of April.
In response to warnings from Saudi Arabia's National Center of Meteorology about generally moderate rains that could turn into severe downpours in some areas of the Kingdom until next Wednesday, the Saudi authorities stated earlier today that classes will not be held in the Jeddah Governorate.
"In-person classes in Jeddah, Rabigh, and Khulais schools will be suspended tomorrow, Monday," the Jeddah Governorate Education Department stated in a statement. Every student, as well as male and female staff members of schools and education offices, will attend class remotely via the "My School" platform tomorrow.
