A new crescent-shaped architectural marvel is currently under construction atop a hill in Sharjah’s Kalba.
Ghamam project details
This ambitious project, known as Ghamam (meaning 'above the clouds'), promises to offer visitors stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and coastline. Situated approximately 850 meters above sea level on Jebel Deem, Ghamam is set to become a major attraction, blending natural beauty with modern amenities.
Facilities on the First Floor
The design of Ghamam features two distinct floors, each with its own unique offerings. The first floor is planned to house a variety of facilities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience. This includes a restaurant where guests can enjoy a meal while taking in the breathtaking views, an open café for more casual dining, and a reading room designed for quiet reflection and leisure. These spaces are crafted to provide comfort and relaxation amidst the scenic landscape.
On the ground floor, the focus shifts to communal and recreational activities. Viewing platforms will be strategically placed to allow visitors to fully appreciate the natural vistas. A multipurpose hall will serve as a venue for various events and activities, adding a dynamic element to the project. Additionally, a prayer room will be available, ensuring that visitors have a place for spiritual reflection.
To enhance the natural environment and create a lush, inviting atmosphere, over 4,500 trees have been planted on the rocky mountain terrain. This green initiative includes a variety of fruit-bearing trees such as olive, apple, pomegranate, and grape trees, which not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal but also promote biodiversity and ecological balance in the area.
In addition to the main features of Ghamam, the project will also include an open theater and play areas designed specifically for children. These elements aim to make the site a family-friendly destination, catering to visitors of all ages. The open theater will provide a unique venue for cultural performances and events, further enriching the visitor experience.
The ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, paid a personal visit to the site of this historic project to monitor its progress. The importance of Ghamam to the area and the determination to make it a world-class attraction are both emphasized by his participation.
The development plans extend beyond Ghamam itself, with a football stadium and a 100-room hotel also being constructed nearby on the mountain. The football stadium, located at an elevation of 650 meters above sea level, is particularly noteworthy. It is expected to offer a unique playing environment that is 10 degrees cooler than the city below, with low humidity levels. This will provide ideal conditions for athletes, making it a premier location for sports events.
The crescent-shaped Ghamam project in Sharjah’s Kalba is set to become a remarkable addition to the region’s attractions. With its blend of natural beauty, innovative design, and comprehensive facilities, it promises to offer a unique and enriching experience for visitors. The extensive greening efforts and additional developments, such as the football stadium and hotel, further enhance its appeal, positioning it as a significant landmark in Sharjah.
