UAE strongly condemns Israel PM remarks on the Gaza Administration

Omar Abbas - | Arab

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has voiced its severe dissatisfaction with recent statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Gulf state's possible role in Gaza's post-war governance.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, took to social media platform X to denounce Netanyahu's statements. Emphasizing the UAE's stance, he stated that Netanyahu lacked the legal authority to make such assertions. The UAE firmly rejects any attempts to involve it in legitimizing Israel's presence in Gaza, which remains under Israeli occupation.

Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed that the United Arab Emirates will back a Palestinian government that shares the goals of the Palestinian people, including their desire for independence. This position demonstrates the UAE's dedication to the Palestinian cause and its support for the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Netanyahu's Proposal and Rejection

In a recent interview, Netanyahu put up the notion that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries might perhaps help with the establishment of a civil administration in Gaza following the end of the fight. However, there are prominent members of Netanyahu's cabinet who oppose the idea of establishing a sovereign state for the Palestinian people. Netanyahu has made it clear that Israel thinks it is crucial to keep security control over Gaza after the war.

The Palestinian people aspire to establish an independent state encompassing the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, a goal that enjoys the support of the UAE. Despite diplomatic tensions between the UAE and Israel, the UAE has consistently condemned Israel's actions during the conflict, particularly the high civilian casualty rates. Nevertheless, the UAE has asserted that its diplomatic channels have facilitated the delivery of aid to Gaza.

The UAE's condemnation of Netanyahu's proposal reflects the broader diplomatic tensions between the two nations. Despite their recent normalization of relations, issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continue to strain their relationship. However, the UAE has maintained its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, emphasizing the importance of alleviating the suffering caused by the conflict.

Toward a Peaceful Resolution

The United Arab Emirates is steadfast in its pursuit of a diplomatic settlement to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. The United Arab Emirates holds that communication and negotiations that take into account the justifiable aspirations of both the Israeli and Palestinian people are the only ways to bring about a long-lasting settlement. To this end, the UAE keeps collaborating with foreign partners to advance programs that uphold regional peace and stability.

The UAE's condemnation of Netanyahu's proposal underscores its commitment to the Palestinian cause and its rejection of any attempt to legitimize Israel's presence in Gaza. As the conflict persists, the UAE remains steadfast in its support for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state and continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
