UAE condemns the Israeli attack on the Rafah border crossing

Omar Abbas - | Arab

The Israeli forces' entry and capture of the Rafah entry point in southern Gaza have been fiercely opposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This denunciation coincides with mounting apprehensions regarding the possible intensification of military operations, which may lead to more innocent lives lost and exacerbate the already grave humanitarian circumstances in the Gaza Strip.

Calls for Safe Passage of Humanitarian Aid

The UAE emphasizes the critical importance of ensuring the safe and unimpeded flow of humanitarian assistance and vital supplies to the people of Gaza. Amidst the conflict, the delivery of aid remains a pressing concern to alleviate the suffering of the population in the besieged region. The UAE recognizes the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis and calls on all parties involved to prioritize the well-being of civilians and facilitate the delivery of aid without impediment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirms its unwavering opposition to the forcible displacement of Palestinians, underscoring its dedication to respecting humanitarian law and international legitimacy. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) opposes any measures that jeopardize the rights and welfare of Palestinians and is in sympathy with the Palestinian cause. In order to establish a fair and long-lasting peace in the area, the UAE also emphasizes the necessity of taking a comprehensive approach to resolving the conflict's underlying causes, especially the ongoing occupation and siege of Gaza.

In order to stop more deaths and defuse the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the UAE urges the international community to act swiftly to mediate a ceasefire. It is imperative to stop the war from spreading geographically since doing so could make the Middle East's already existing violence, tension, and instability worse. The UAE calls on all sides to have serious talks in order to end the current crisis and reiterates its commitment to cooperating with foreign partners in order to advance peace and security in the area.

The UAE recognizes Qatar's and Egypt's mediation efforts and applauds their efforts to help broker a ceasefire accord. The statement conveys the hope that these efforts will result in a ceasefire that ends hostilities, saves the Palestinian people from more suffering, and promotes stability and long-lasting peace in the area. In addition to stressing the value of inclusive and constructive participation in achieving a peaceful resolution to the issue, the UAE is prepared to support any initiatives meant to foster communication and reconciliation amongst the parties concerned.

Advocacy for a Two-State Solution

The UAE reiterates its support for a negotiated two-state solution, which envisions the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Emphasizing the urgency of finding a political resolution, the UAE underscores the importance of returning to the negotiating table to achieve comprehensive peace. This approach aims to address underlying tensions, protect civilian lives, and facilitate the delivery of essential aid to Gaza in a secure and sustainable manner. The UAE remains committed to supporting efforts to build trust and confidence between Israelis and Palestinians and to create the conditions necessary for a just and lasting peace in the region.

The UAE's condemnation of the Israeli invasion of the Rafah border crossing underscores its commitment to supporting the rights and welfare of the Palestinian people. The UAE calls for immediate action to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and advocates for a peaceful resolution to the conflict through diplomatic means. As the situation continues to evolve, the UAE stands ready to work with international partners to promote peace, security, and prosperity for all people in the region.
