Emirates Airlines launched a statement announcing the resumption of its services to Nigeria, commencing on October 1, 2024.
With the airline's new daily service, travelers will have more connections and alternatives between the capitals of Nigeria, Lagos, and Dubai, as well as beyond.
Flight Schedule and Aircraft
A Boeing 777-300ER will operate the daily route between Dubai and Lagos. Starting at 9:45 am, Flight EK783 will take off from Dubai and touch down in Lagos at 3:20 pm. On the flip side, flight EK784 would leave Lagos at 5:30 p.m. and land in Dubai at 5:10 a.m. the next day.
The resumption of Emirates Airline flights to Nigeria has thrilled Adnan Kazim, the country's Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer. He highlighted the airline's dedication to reuniting leisure and business visitors to Dubai and beyond, as well as the route's popularity with Nigerian consumers. The Nigerian government was also commended by Kazim for their assistance in re-establishing this crucial channel.
With the resumption of operations to Nigeria, Emirates now serves 19 gateways in Africa with 157 flights per week from Dubai. The airline’s extensive network provides connectivity to an additional 130 regional points in Africa through codeshare and interline partnerships with various airlines. Nigeria, as a major economic hub in Africa, shares strong bilateral trade relations with the UAE, particularly with Lagos as the nation’s commercial center.
Cargo Operations and Trade Support
In addition to passenger flights, Emirates SkyCargo, the airline's cargo arm, will play a crucial role in bolstering trade relations between Nigeria and the UAE. The airline will offer more than 300 tons of bellyhold cargo capacity in and out of Lagos every week. Emirates SkyCargo will facilitate the export of Nigerian goods, such as Kola nuts, food and beverages, and urgent courier material, to key markets through its hub in Dubai. Similarly, it will import vital goods, including pharmaceuticals and electronics, from markets such as the UAE, India, and Hong Kong to Nigeria.
On the Lagos route, Emirates' Boeing 777-300ER will offer 304 economy class seats, 42 business class seats, and 8 first class suites. All passengers, regardless of class, can expect a plush and comfortable journey thanks to this arrangement.
Emirates’ decision to resume daily flights to Nigeria underscores its commitment to providing seamless connectivity and supporting trade relations between Nigeria and the UAE. With a strong network and cargo capabilities, Emirates aims to facilitate the movement of passengers and goods, contributing to the economic growth and development of both countries.
