Community Awareness Effort

Abu Dhabi Police recently organized a lecture in collaboration with the Protocol and Public Relations Department and the Drug Control Department, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and strategies to prevent and combat it.

The lecture, held at the Police Officers Club Theater in Al Ain, was attended by both members of the public and law enforcement officials. Brigadier Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate in the Criminal Security Sector, emphasized the importance of community partnership in anti-drug efforts.

As He also highlighted Abu Dhabi Police's commitment to ongoing awareness and educational programs to positively impact society and deter young people from falling into drug abuse and addiction. Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salem Obaid Al Ameri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Al Ain Region, underscored the department's focus on raising awareness and providing security education regarding the harms of drug abuse. He explained the department's plans, programs, and educational campaigns aimed at preventing and confronting drug abuse throughout the year across various educational and social institutions.

During the lecture, Al-Madani Faisal Khamis Al Dhaheri, Director of the Preventive Programs Implementation Branch at the Anti-Narcotics Department in Al Ain, presented several videos showcasing Abu Dhabi Police's efforts in combating and preventing drug abuse.

Family Role and Collaboration

The topics covered included the types and causes of addiction, relevant legislation, and laws, as well as raising family and youth awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Al Dhaheri emphasized the crucial role of families in preventing drug abuse and urged positive communication with children to build trust and confidence. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among institutions to educate society about the dangers of drug abuse and promotion.

The lecture also addressed various factors contributing to drug abuse, such as weak religious faith, family disintegration, psychological disorders, peer pressure, and a lack of awareness about the dangers of drugs. Attendees were briefed on the "Chance of Hope" service, which encourages drug users to seek treatment through facilities provided by Abu Dhabi Police.

In order to report suspicious cases, individuals were informed about the Aman service, ensuring complete confidentiality. Requests for assistance can be submitted through the Abu Dhabi Police website or smart application, or by contacting 8002626.

Through such initiatives and services, Abu Dhabi Police continues its efforts to combat drug abuse and protect the well-being of individuals and communities in the region.
