Ahead of this summer's Olympic Games in Paris, Simone Biles dominated the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, taking home her seventh all-around title on Sunday.
The 27-year-old competed in the uneven bars, floor exercise, balance beam, and vault, finishing with a cumulative score of 119.750.
The seven-time Olympian and seasoned gymnastics competitor made one mistake in the vault while attempting her signature move, the "Biles."
She dismissed it swiftly though, stating, "I'm not mad," in reference to her performance.
Even so, she was able to easily secure the top spot on the podium, with Skye Blakely, her closest rival, coming in second with 5.900 points. Third place went to Kayla DiCello.
After withdrawing from a few events at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics due to emotional health issues, Biles has persisted in fighting back.
"After Tokyo, it was difficult—just to believe in myself," she remarked at a press conference after winning.
Prior to the Olympics later this summer, Biles is getting back into the swing of things. She won the Female Athlete of the Year award from The Associated Press in 2023 and led Team USA to the team title at the World Gymnastics Championships last fall.
Even though Biles still needs to go through qualifying later this summer, she will undoubtedly be among the most popular athletes worldwide when she competes in France. It will be her first time competing since she had the "twisties" during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which was a startling development for the four-time Olympic gold champion. She missed several competitions.
Nonetheless, Biles appears to be returning to her former self once more. Approximately one month before to the opening ceremony in Paris, on June 27, in Minneapolis, the Olympic trials will begin.
