One of the greatest seasons of his career, according to superstar football player Cristiano Ronaldo, was his record-breaking Roshn Saudi League season, during which he scored 35 goals for Al Nassr Football Club.
According to a statement issued by the Roshn Saudi League, the Al Nassr captain and forward was given the Roshn Saudi League 2023/24 Top Goal scorer title for his amazing accomplishment of scoring 35 goals in just 31 games.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's total eclipsed Abderrazak Hamdallah's record of 34 in 2018–19, setting a Saudi Arabian record.
It has great significance. I'm overjoyed. Ronaldo stated in the statement, "It's probably one of the best seasons I've ever had in terms of goals but also assists."
Since it's my work, it means a lot, to be very honest. To be quite honest, I wasn't searching for it at the start of the season, but as time went on, I began to realize that it was feasible," he continued.
The 39-year-old Portuguese legend not only led the league in goals scored but also racked up 11 assists.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in late December 2022. His squad, which finished second in the Roshn Saudi League 2023–24 season, has scored 64 goals in 69 games across all competitions and 49 goals in 47 league outings since then.
He also scored the most goals for a club in the globe in 2023, with 54 goals in 59 games. In the Saudi League, he scored hat-tricks in back-to-back games against Al Tai and Abha in 2023–2024.
"I'm thrilled to have surpassed the Saudi league record. I feel really good about it, which is what drives me to play football, practice consistently, and keep going in that direction.
Ronaldo stated that while he is excited for the 2024–2025 Roshn Saudi League season, his current priorities are Portugal and the 2024 European Championship, when his team will play the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Georgia in the group stages in Germany.
"I believe that the objectives for every season are essentially the same: to perform well and take home victories. To win individual awards would be great, but my main objective is to perform well and accomplish goals for both Al Nassr and my Portugal national team. I want to be the same Cristiano that you saw this season. What I want is to stay at this level," Ronaldo continued.
