uae prices: petrol prices in May are trending higher

Mohamed Shalaby - | Business

Today, Tuesday, the UAE is preparing to announce gasoline prices during the coming month of May 2024 to be in line with international prices.

Local gas prices may rise in the upcoming month due to the increase in global oil prices following the armed war between Israel and Iran in April, which caused Brent to rise beyond $90 per barrel.

Prior to falling to $86 in the third week of April, the prices were roughly $90 until the middle of the month. However, at the end of last week, prices had increased once again to $89.5.

In April 2024, the average price of a barrel of petroleum increased by $4.53 from the previous month. In April, Brent saw an average price per barrel of $88.79, up from $84.26 in March.

April saw an increase in petrol prices in the United Arab Emirates for the third month in a row. The prices of Super 98, Special 95, and E-Plus 91 were Dh3.15, Dh3.03, and Dh2.96 per litre, respectively.

In the UAE, prices for April have increased by 12 fils per liter, following a $3 per barrel average global price increase in March.

Due to the nature of their jobs, drivers who travel frequently and transport businesses alike anticipate pricing changes in the UAE.

Compared to the global average of Dh4.93 per litre, the average price in the UAE is Dh3.03.
